![]() For her performance piece Iowa Summer, she collaborated with the composer and guitarist Richard Drueding and drummer Stephen Ferraro to create a full-length semi-autobiographical music/poem cycle. The trio performed Iowa Summer at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and in a variety of venues and later released it on CD. Working with guitarist David Falcone as well as choreographer and fire-eater Tomas Dura and a troupe of flamenco dancers and actors, she adapted The Lay of the Cid, a thousand year old poem, for a performance piece entitled El Cid in Flamenco and Flame. In addition, Ms Crimmins' poetry has been published in many literary magazines and in several anthologies, including Pagan's Muse, Meridian Bound, The Best of Philadelphia Stories 2004-2006, and Voices in Wartime. Sandy past away on July 2, 2007 just weeks after finishing her work for this project.
Ms. Crimmins, whose chapbook String Theory was released last year, has worked with a variety of composers. For Chamber Music Now!'s 2005 event "A Literary Affair" featuring performances by Marilyn Nonken, she wrote and performed a response poem inspired by David Laganella's sonata The Schuylkill at Night.
